Like your coffee traditional with a bit of kick? Try our Norpro French Press!
A French press, also known as a cafetière (in England, Netherlands and Ireland - à piston in French) is a filterless coffee brewing pot. The coffee and water are poured together into the press and left to brew. After a few minutes, the plunger is depressed to trap the grounds in the bottom. French pressed coffee is usually stronger and thicker with more sediment than coffee that is drip-brewed. Thus it "traps" more flavor and coffee essence than regular brewed coffee. The used grounds stay in the drink after brewing and will become bitter after 15- 20 minutes. The french press gives an impressive after dinner touch even though it is simply made.
A French press requires coffee of a coarser grind than does a drip brew coffee filter, as finer grounds will seep through the press filter and into the coffee. Makes 3 cups.
